Faux Wood Blinds Vs Wood Blinds

Faux Wood Blinds:

Pros:
  • They are great in high humidity environments.
  • They come in solid or a composite wood/vinyl material.
  • They are easy to clean and maintain and extremely durable.
  • They cost less than wood blinds.
Cons:
  • Are more limited color choices, but are available in paint and stain.
  • They are a little heavier than wood blinds requiring more tape or ladder cords for support and this reduces your view somewhat.
  • Some realtors claim that wood blinds are better than faux wood blinds for resell value when reselling your home. (wood shutters are the best)

Wood Blinds:

Pros:
  • They come with many more color choices and a wider selection of sizes.
  • They are lighter than faux wood blinds requiring less tape or ladder cords for support and this increases your view.
  • Realtors claim that wood blinds are better than faux wood blinds for resell value when reselling your home. (wood shutters are the best)
Cons:
  • They don't fair well in high humidity environments.(showers etc.)
  • They are not as easy to clean as faux wood blinds but are fairly durable.
  • They cost more than faux wood blinds.

Bottom Line:
With all the improvements that have been and are being made it’s very hard to tell faux wood blinds from real wood blinds, so the choice is ultimately more about preference and budget.
